WRUP: Gestalt Edition Gestalt is a psychological time period that refers to one thing higher as a complete than the sum of its parts. This is not a tough phenomenon to see in motion -- you could have to mix flour, yeast, and cinnamon together to get a delicious loaf of cinnamon-swirl bread, in any case. The term can be utilized to Transformers, which mix into a single enormous robot, usually one that isn't significantly delicious. Despite this truth, the official time period stays "combiner" as a substitute, presumably as a result of the people who are answerable for naming are fearful about what would happen if everybody started utilizing obscure psychology terms. Hey, so long as we're already speaking about combining things, we'd as properly go entire-hog into this week's WRUP. That itself is a gestalt, but that does not seem fairly spicy enough. Let's all discuss combining games collectively into a whole larger than the sum of its elements. Yeah, that is the ticket. Soar on past the break for that and what the staff will be taking part in this weekend, then let us know in the feedback what you will be getting up to. Beau Hindman (@Beau_Hindman): I'll be ending up my time with Minions of Mirth and shifting on to The Realm On-line. I've just barely started to play, however already the game may be very charming, and the group is awesome. Supposedly it is one of the oldest around! I'll even be placing a lot more time constructing up my city in Illyriad and trying to hit the subsequent degree in Ministry of Battle. Then I will continue to make plans for taking a week to use no PCs in any respect and to live off only my telephone (for a future challenge). WELL If I may mix two video games, they can be Ryzom and The Chronicles of Spellborn. Not only would it's the best-looking game in the entire history of the universe, but it will have every part I needed. Well, that's, if I may throw in some Wurm On-line as effectively. And uhm... combine within the epicness of Vanguard. Oh yeah, and could I throw in some Mabinogi crafting and its rebirth system? What about... Brandon Felczer (@bfelczer): This weekend I am going away on trip to my time share in Palm Springs and going to try and not take my laptop computer -- Okay, I am gonna take it however attempt not to open it. We'll see how that goes. So, WRUP this weekend? LIFE! If I could mix two sport into one, it might undoubtedly be Star Trek Online and EVE On-line -- that would be pure and utter madness! Brendan Drain (@nyphur): It's come time for me to shut up the Massively Mob company in EVE On-line and go away Massively Motivated within the palms of its administrators. It has been niggling at me for the reason that EVE fanfest that operating a PvE corporation isn't what I need to do or what I am good at, and forcing myself to do it has murdered my enthusiasm for playing. I'll be getting back into issues I take pleasure in more, like PvP and taking part in the market in my very own time. If I might merge any two games, it might be EVE On-line and Age of Conan -- an odd combination but one I feel would work. Having played on a PvP server in Age of Conan, I found that sneaking around the zones tracking players down and smashing them to bits was extremely fun. EVE Online's single-shard structure, open-world territorial battle, a form of policing and sentry turret system for protected areas, and a disposable gear system might all do wonders for AoC. Eliot Lefebvre Ms. Lady and i will probably be persevering with to explore Final Fantasy XIV together, as she's been completely in love with the sport now that she's got a machine able to dealing with it. I've also acquired The Sims Medieval to occupy my time, and I might like to get again into Guild Wars with no matter spare moments are left. Combining video games is a little bit of a pastime of mine to start with, and loads of those video games wind up being MMOs. I would love to see a mash-up between the setting and baroque, unique classes of Last Fantasy XI with the skill system, armor system, and distinctly quick-paced breakdown of Guild Wars. Failing that, I'd love to mash the setting of Sword 2 into a Star Trek Online-type engine. Combine up Fallen Earth and City of Heroes to offer me a Gamma World MMO! Jef Reahard: A little bit of EVE and AoC here, and i've also returned to EverQuest II for some time (primarily as a result of it still has one of the best participant housing despite being seven years old, /sniff). My unholy hybrid would be Ultima Online plus Star Wars Galaxies, and going into particulars would take this entire column. In case you played both, you realize why. It's hard not to incorporate EVE in there too, but I believe CCP will finally flip it into the final word sandbox, so there'd really be no cause to mix it with anything at that point. Jeremy Stratton (@Jeremy_Stratton): I'm continuing my quest to acquire and upgrade a vahtos accessory-set for my Priest/Rogue in Runes of Magic. Although each accessory has a really completely different stage-requirement and none of the items goes near the present level-cap, they're nonetheless really helpful for squishies (especially a pew-pewing Priest). I did not must assume for a second about which two games I would combine. I might love to see all the many fun aspects of Runes of Magic injected into the giant and beautiful world of Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. Justin Olivetti (@Sypster): As much as possible, I will be playing Lord of the Rings Online to eek out all of that further bonus XP for the anniversary weekend celebration. So no RIFT till Monday, alas! Combination-smart, it'd be superior to see RIFT and Metropolis of Heroes mixed. The soul system and dynamic events of RIFT would lend themselves effectively to a superhero setting, and CoH has all the time had a few of the coolest fight and powers of any comedian guide recreation. Karen Bryan (@JayeRnH): It's Easter weekend plus the tail end of school vacation, so my playtime's limited. I will attempt to sneak in slightly Pirates of the Burning Sea, though! As for the bonus question, that's straightforward. I might like to see Minecraft combined with RIFT. I want to see a plane of Minecraft with 16-bit invasions and armies of creeers and zombies working amok all over Telara. MJ Guthrie: This weekend will see me cooking up a medley stew -- a sprint Lord of the Rings On-line, a number of shakes of STO, a heaping scoop of EverQuest II, after which a sprig of Aion for spice. I feel that can fill me up pretty properly! Hmmm, properly the first one could be simple to pick -- pre-CU Star Wars Galaxies! The emotes, the customization, the housing, the social courses, the crafting, the... I may go on and on. I'd combine it with... um... Okay, the second selection is more durable for me. I would very well choose The Sims. I really like to build; to have the ability to design and assemble my very own place would keep me entertained without end. Can I add in a couple of The Matrix On-line features as effectively? Honestly, do not get me began as a result of I'd snag features from so many games to make my excellent game! Then I could by no means enterprise into RL once more... Patrick Mackey (@mackeypb): Champions On-line is doing a free Serpent Lantern weekend, so any player can play it. I am positively going to be operating some of it with friends. One in all my mates is coming back from the military on go away, so I will also be doing stuff with him this weekend. We'll most likely be playing Hisoutensoku and Artemis. I intend to add a number of the exploits to my YouTube channel, so if you are fascinated, examine some of that out. If I could mix two games into one, it would be EVE and Armored Core. Particularly, I would like a cutthroat financial player-focused mecha motion recreation in a publish-apocalyptic world, where players pilot robots instead of ships and fight is blinding quick and ability-primarily based. At the beginning of every weekend, we meet up with the Massively workers members and ask them, "What are you taking part in this week?" (In any other case often known as: WRUP!) Be a part of us to see what we're up to in and out of sport -- and catch us within the comments to let us know what you're taking part in, too!
